A registered nurse is on duty at all times during the summer camp season. Special instructions will be given at camp for those taking medications.
For the protection of the campers, we are unable to retain campers with contagious conditions such as chickenpox or lice. The camp has a “nit-free” policy. All campers need to be checked for lice prior to arrival at camp, and only those campers who are “nit-free” should be allowed to come.
The State of New Hampshire requires camps to have immunization records and proof of a recent (within the past two years) physical on file. Please have your child’s doctor send the immunization records and paperwork from the most recent physical to The Wilds of New England.
Each camper must be immunized against the following: polio, measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus. In the event that parents choose not to immunize their child, they must sign a statement releasing the camp from any liability due to exposure to any communicable disease (including any consequences from the withholding of tetanus immunization should their child sustain a cut or puncture wound while on the campsite).

Our Dietitian and Camp Nurse work with campers with food allergies and intolerances to make sure they are provided for. We ask that campers with special dietary needs bring their own microwaveable food.
If you would like to see a menu for your child's week of camp, please contact the nurse (twne.nurse@wilds.org) two weeks prior to get the meal plan.
There is a microwave and toaster oven available in our Dining Hall for camper use, as well as a designated refrigerator, small freezer, and shelf space available for food storage. Our kitchen is not able to accommodate meals that require more than the available microwave and toaster oven.
Medications must be clearly labeled with the camper's name and in the original container with dosing instructions. If the camper uses an inhaler or epi-pen, please send a copy of the original prescription. All medications must be checked in with the nurse during registration on Monday afternoon.
